Abhiruchi Singh Talks About her Musical Journey to Celebrate World Music Day

When did you first start singing?

I have been singing for as long as I remember because I have always loved music. I was only seven years old when I first sang on stage. I absolutely loved the feeling and have never looked back since. Eventually, I decided to make a career in music.

Vocal warm-ups are crucial for singers. What does your routine look like?

It becomes very difficult to have a set routine because of my busy schedule that requires me to travel often. However, I try to include vocal practices in my routine on an everyday basis as much as possible without tiring my voice.

Since you perform live very often, can you give a few tips for people who experience stage fright?

A little nervousness is always good before going on the stage, but if one has stage fright, they can probably practice in front of people they know first. Or they can start with a small group of people till they are comfortable performing on a bigger stage.

Can you play an instrument?

I play the guitar to support my vocals, but I haven’t learned the instrument formally yet.

What skills have you learned that will help you in your singing career?

I never had any formal training in music and it came to me naturally from a very young age because of my parents who sing too. But I have now started formal vocal training to get a deeper understanding of music and to better myself as a musical artist. Additionally, being active in front of my audience online, for example, uploading videos on Moj also helps me to engage with an audience and gauge the kind of responses I get.  I work on improving myself basis real-time feedback. Till now, I’ve received all the positive feedback, and I am pleased about it.

What genre of songs do you prefer singing?

I don’t like to restrict myself to a single genre of music since I enjoy singing all types of songs.

Can you tell us about the best performance in your career yet?

For an artist, I believe no performance is ‘The best.’ We learn, grow, evolve, and create new magic every day. However, the song I’m about to release next is my favorite since I’ve put my heart and soul into writing, composing, and singing it.

What is your dream venue to perform at?

At the moment I don’t have a dream venue that I would like to perform at yet. But my dream as an artist is to make people across the globe connect with my music and feel special when they hear me sing.

What are your future plans?

I’m grateful and happy that a lot of work is underway right now. I am caught up in my studio making new music, but I actively post my music to get real-time reviews and connect with new audiences on Moj. So, many songs – originals and cover renditions are coming soon. Stay tuned.
