A passionate Delhi girl, Surbhi Rathore, a popular creator turned her passion for dancing into a full-time career. Someone who has always had a flair for dancing and particularly enjoyed being in front of the camera worked her way into getting recognized for her talent and passion. Coming from a conservative family, Surbhi had to deal with her share of troubles in order to pursue her career. With over 8.7M followers on Moj, Surbhi talks about her journey to becoming a successful content creator and her tips for budding creators.
1. Please tell us how and when did you decide to take up dancing as a full-time career
I have always been an admirer of dance as an art form. I took Kathak lessons for about four years at an early age and then continued other western dance forms post that. Dance gave me my identity, and I realized pretty soon in my career that dance is my calling.
2. Which is your favorite dance form and why?
I enjoy all dance forms, but my favorite dance form has and always will be freestyle Bollywood. Dancing on masala numbers is so much fun! It is expressive and requires a lot of energy, but it comes naturally to me.
3. Who has been the most supportive of your decision to fulfill your dream?
My Mother has been my most extensive support system. Right from the start, she accepted my passion for dance and always encouraged me to pursue what I wanted to do.
4. You have a tremendous following today. How did you decide to create content for social media? Tell us more about your content creation journey.
It started as a part-time distraction cum hobby. I enjoyed being in front of the camera and had some unique and engaging ideas on content. Hence, I realized that content creation is my field to go. Apart from that, it is through Moj that I get these fantastic opportunities, be it celebrity engagement or brand collaborations which bolsters my career graph as well. It was a cathartic experience for me initially, and it still is, but I am glad that everything worked in my favor in this journey of exploring dance.
5. You were a part of the Bachchan Pandey movie promotion. Tell us about your whole experience.
It was a fantastic and enjoyable experience. It was the first time I had met so many Bollywood celebrities in person. The cast was humble and enthusiastic about our endeavors. It was a one-of-a-kind experience, and I’m thankful to Moj for giving me this chance. I never imagined meeting them, never alone creating something for them. When Moj chose me for this activity, it was like a dream come true. The trip was fascinating, and I am overjoyed to have created so many creative pieces for my Moj feed.
6. Who is the one person who always inspires you most in your life?
My mother has always been my one source of inspiration with all her support and advice. I owe my success to her.
7. What message would you like to share with young creators who want to make it big in content creation?
The most important advice for any young creator is to just start creating content; the rest will flow in on its own. Always try to think and do something unique but don’t get disheartened if it doesn’t work out at once. Success doesn’t come overnight. It might take you years before you start earning. But my advice would be to be consistent while moving forward. Have faith in what you are doing, do what you love, and don’t think about factors like views or money. Keep working hard, and everything else will eventually fall in.

8. As a content creator, what are your future plans?
I think I will keep doing what I love the most – creating content all around the world. Creating content makes me sane, gives me purpose in life, and keeps me happy. I want to travel the world and make at least one piece of content in every part of the world.
